The 1939 publication for the Inn at Black Mountain College, a business venture of the college.
it says:
"...in the heart of the Craggy Mountains, 14 miles east of Asheville, N.C. - just off U.S. 70. The Inn and cottages are owned and operated by Black Mountain College. Prices are moderate and the food is excellent. There is swimming, tennis, boating, hiking - and golf nearby.
Lake Eden also is the site of annual music festivals called LEAF, Lake Eden Arts Festival, held in spring and fall. I'll add a few of their photos, because I've never attended it. I
Since it's a "small venue," they limit attendance to 6000 participants each year. It's very family friendly, I'm told, with lots of kids enjoying the fun also. And it certainly effects Black Mountain with much more traffic, fewer parking places, and crowded restaurants. As you can see in this aerial view, there are multiple lakes as part of Lake Eden. I don't know why they don't call it Lakes of Eden...but I wasn't there when they named it, nor built it! If you know the history of the series of lakes, with crossing dams or dykes...I'd love to hear more.
