Driving for spring

Driving a bit in Montreat NC.

Driving along First St. in Black Mountain, NC

And the Primary School has just busses sitting in the parking lot. All the children are at home, and maybe doing some learning. I wonder what percentage actually are still doing school work.

The two dogwoods in my courtyard

The bright sunshine makes white dogwoods pale in comparison, but also allows their luminescence to shine through.

OK, it's not really a courtyard so much as a walkway between the two buildings.  This walk feeds the lower level apartments of the uphill building, and the upper lever apartments of the building which is down hill.  This is a clever setup, so that you meet and greet other neighbors who either live in a downstairs unit on one side, or an upstairs unit on the other.  Thus 5 buildings are stair-stepped down the hill, and our walk area is one of the smallest, so we've at least got some ornamentals to look at!

In the rain, these pink dogwood blossoms just pop out.

Leaf Peepers

The season of looking at autumn foliage will begin in a few weeks in the highest elevations (aka the Blue Ridge Parkway and Mount Mitchell.)

So the Leaf Peepers will be coming to town.

Last Sunday was warm but not hot, and I spied this smart person (and dog) who had visited the park and hung a hammock in which to enjoy the afternoon.

Most of the ducks and geese had retreated after breakfast. After all, people walk their dogs all day around Lake Tomahawk.
The two Canada Geese are hiding by the tree.  Yesterday (when I didn't have my camera) there were several dozen by the side of the lake!

A couple of mallards, were diving for whatever they love in the muck.

And there are 2 ducks and a rock in this pic.

A second orange/red berry. The first were on the dogwoods on the right in my first photo above.

We won't be out at the Tailgate market this Saturday.  The possibility of gusty winds bodes against having pottery under a tent.
