New for me, anyway...a combination of turquoise satin liner on bowls and cups.
Then Matt Black exterior. But the edges were dipped in a glaze we call plum.
It's plum lovely the way different colors come out of it. On the turquoise side...deeper drippy blues.
On the black side, melting purples.
These bowls aren't as deep as some I've made in the past. But they are heavy duty to keep that soup/stew/pot pie nice and hot till it's all gone. And just imagine how lovely it will look!
These are easy stacking, easily dishwashed, microwavable, and ok in an oven that isn't too hot when the bowl is placed in it and the contents aren't cold.
Special price too, and I'll probably be taking orders...at the Tailgate Market the next 3 Saturdays...last outings! But there are still 2 more sales (indoors) which I'm scheduling. Holly Jolly at Black Mountain Center for the Arts 5-8 pm on Fri. Dec. 4. That's upstairs next to the gallery.
And my final sales opportunity for this year is the McDowell County Appalachian Potters Market, at the Marion High School on Sat. Dec. 5, from 10-4. I know this is a ways out to put on your calendars, but it's the best show, and I'm one of the lucky potters (in a booth with Cathy Babula).

Bette Potter Jones, potter
Bette specializes in delicate sculptures and glowing raku glazes. And Bette's sense of humor comes through her work, including little oil wicks for bottles to be re-purposed as oil lamps!
I'm posting pictures of the Mud Buddies pottery whenever I can!

Marsha Cozart, potter
Marsha has some lovely new pieces, including a huge casserole and lots of things with polka dots. She also has some of her traditional designs being displayed...so come over to the Mud Buddies booth any Sat. morning from 9-12, till the end of October.
And on Nov. 21 Marsha will have a double size display of her work for the Holiday Market, 10-1:30, special hours.
PS, I'm moving this week, so it may take longer than usual for your comments to be posted!

the force of nature
Yesterday the Mud Buddies did not set up their tables and tent at the Tailgate Market in Black Mountain. It had been raining since Thursday night, continuously.
Sorry if you wanted pottery this week, I do hope you'll return next week!
Our season is winding down, but we still have a lot of new pottery for sale each Saturday for the whole month of October, and up to the Saturday before Thanksgiving. That will be our last Sat, and we have a double size booth for the Holiday Fair, so don't forget to get gifts and decorations on Nov. 21, or before.
See you at the Fair!

Mountains and oceans have whole worlds of innumerable wondrous
features. We should understand that it is not only our distant surroundings
that are like this, but even what is right here, even a single drop of water.
