Yes, this is a little one that I experimented on glazes. The white crackle is supposed to look like that, and I'm happy about her.

Dragon 4 in the works

 

 She's dry now, and waiting to be bisque fired. We shall see, since there may be some cracks. The slab was too dry as I worked with it, cutting or tearing pieces. I'll try to have construction happen right as the slab is rolled next time.

the Dragon I live with

Ye, a cotton velveteen, tye-died stuffed dragon. It has a squeaker over it's hip towards the front. The regular squeak! The eyes are just paper or cardboard glued on...pretty tacky.

But K-Mart provided me with a kind of female dragon at a price I could afford in the 1990s.

My ceramic dragons don't look anything like her. Well, except the ridges down her back.

Hungry baby something

The kiln gods were great to this ugly little baby, which I call a bird.  He's finished, and comments say he looks like a dragon/dinosaur.  Who knows...as long as some parent comes to feed him/her.

The wingless one

So I forgot to put wings on this dragon.
Let's reframe this...

My first dragon without wings.
And I've learned something.
I've learned Chinese dragons don't have wings.

So this is my first Chinese Dragon.  Number one (may it be a series? who knows?)

OK, it's just a lizard with a silly look on its face.  I like to always give a dragon a bit of a whimsical attitude.

Did you notice he's also a unicorn? That was on purpose, when I started making him.  But I'll have to work a bit harder to make a realistic (if there is such a thing) unicorn.

Sometime today I'll stop by the studio, to see if the ugly baby bird and Hecate are out of the kiln yet.  It (kiln) was too hot yesterday during my volunteer time at the Open Studio. Black Mountain Center for the Arts community Clay Studio...great place for working in clay!
