I've mentioned San Jacinto, Texas, before on a blog (HERE)
But when going through my mother's and my old postcards, I found this one.
It's not as old as hers are, but the Inn was actually opened in the year she was born.
Since last week we (Texans all over the world) celebrated the date of the Battle of San Jacinto, in which Sam Houston beat the Mexican general, Santa Anna, and thus Texas won independence from Mexico...I chose to offer this as my thanks to those Texans. That battle led to the US eventually having much of the territory of other states as well.
My last visit to the San Jacinto Inn was probably in 1978, and that's likely the time I purchased this card. Or maybe not. It's got an address with a zip code, and a phone number with an area code, so I'm sure it wasn't published much earlier than that.
I submit this to Sepia Saturday a bit late, and quite a bit off topic. All my United Kingdom friends will have something to celebrate their Queen's 90th probably.
