The last of the series

I may continue to make most things my friends request, but these are the last 2 toothbrush stands.  Period.  I just can't sell them for a compensation that meets the amount of time and work they take to make.

So of course these will go for peanuts!

And just out of the kiln

In her right hand is a new toothbrush holder in bright yellow just as my friend requested.
In the left hand, one of my tree mugs, with some kinds of blossoms on the tree.  Yay, it's spring.  Maybe.

I actually have an order to make one that's yellow.  This is on a stoneware that turned the yellow glaze closer to green...though that's nice too.  So I've made a white clay one that's about to be glazed bright yellow.  I'll show you next week sometime.

And yes, for several years I used an electric toothbrush.  So I just had to put cosmetic sticks in my toothbrush caddy, until I stopped wearing cosmetics.  Maybe that's why I went back to a standard arm powered toothbrush.

Bathroom furniture

Unabashed plug for some useful items.

So when you have a nice counter by your sink, do you drop this and that around, or do you have an organizer?  Perhaps you've got those drawers, where you still have to shuffle to find whatever you're looking for?

 

You can see how anything almost can be stored vertically, and drip harmlessly if it's wet when put in the holder.

I confess I bought one for myself about 15 years ago, so the design isn't original.  I've changed it a bit, trying to make the toothbrush holes bigger for the bigger brushes we've got these days.

And even though almost everyone uses liquid soap in a pump, sometimes a nice bar of special soap is seen as well by the sink.  This soap dish has little raised bars so the soap won't stick to the dish, and will dry out nicely between uses.  It also looks really pretty like a piece of lace enfolding the bar of soap.

So, that's my simple bathroom furniture for this week, in several different colors, of course.

The bathroom project #1

I've been working on some soap dishes and little toothbrush stands for a local soap seller.

These are a couple with lots of holes, for other things besides brushes of course...and can either be hung on the wall or sit on a counter top.  I sold this one at the Tail Gate market yesterday.

The swoopy sided lace-embedded style, with raised logs for the soap to dry upon.

This is super size for super big soaps.

 a tray with a pretty lace imprint. 

This larger swoopy dish could be used as a jewelry tray, when ladies (or gentlemen) take off those earrings or rings.

There are at least 3 more colors I've made, but they haven't been fired yet.  So there will be a second posting of these little darlings.  Look for Mexico (turquoise) Eggshell, and Amber (chocolate) colors coming soon.

They've been waiting their tun for a week and a half.  But community studio means whatever has been there longest, or whatever fits, goes in the kiln first.
