New potters in Marshall's sale

Last weekend I drove up to Marshall for a small but high quality pottery show, in a tiny river town Marshall NC. I saw potters from Marshall as well as Minnesota and Washington DC.

It's held in an old highschool building that's turned into art studios on an island.

Some favorite potters were there, and some were not.

I did decide to welcome the Fitzgeralds who came all the way from Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, and I brought home one of their mugs.

I like the pinkish golden color of shino glaze!

Then I had to stop at Flow, an artisan shop in Marshall.

The courthouse dome is reflected in the window of Flow.

Sweet Monkey has bright outside seating, but not a good sign designating the restaurant.

An old friend opened this cafe' last year, after having served her wonderful baked goods at the Black Mountain Tailgate Market for years.

With cool weather we were all chummy inside

The rails from the east go through the same passes that the river has cut through the mountains

French Broad River flows north and west from Asheville NC through Marshall on its way to Tennessee

We were impressed by the craftsmanship of the brick work

I love the Roberts building from 1922 (so it says up at the top)

The bluff homes are out of any harms way from prior flooding of the river

My blog-friend Vicki Lane, is working on a book about the Shelton Laurel activities during the Civil War, which are mentioned on that historic marker.

When I googled Col. Lawrence M. Allen, I found this link, which includes quotes about his life...which may have a few exaggerations.
