More potters at the show

Here's another booth, in which I didn't capture the name of the artists (I think their business is "Clay, Weed, Paper.") I think I bought a hand made book from these folks last year.

There were some really great pottery/sculptural displays.

A fellow member of the Swannanoa Fine Arts League had this booth.

Old friend Will Byers who used to live in Black Mountain (and still says so on his sign) but now resides in Tennessee. He still is doing pottery (after a stint of doing photography!) We found out we lived in Knoxville at the same time in the 80s-90s.

OK   I think I've shared all the Art by the Tracks photos now!

Some more pottery at Art by the Tracks

I had a good chat with this potter... about how mugs can keep the heat of drinks until you finish drinking them. Unfortunately I didn't get his name. But we decided that the wedge shape mugs do tend to cool fastest.

Kathy was great at sharing her Fimo clay jewelry.  I'm not sure how long it really lasts however.

Some more sulptural work, moving toward functional...again, no knowledge of artist, sorry.  But he was busy selling things, a good sign!

More artists/craftspeople at the Old Depot gallery

June 1, Saturday was the Art by the Tracks arts & crafts show downtown in Black Mountain. I'll show you more of it over on my blog, Living in Black Mountain.

The door to the Old Depot was propped open, and people came and left constantly.

Other pottery displays (I shared mine last week).

The only alcohol ink painting I saw, which is a beautiful vibrant technique.

Right in the middle of the room are various wind chimes hanging where you can't miss them!

Molly (left) was behind the counter with Margaret...checking out some music on a CD.

More beautiful pottery...

The next room was chock full of more crafts!

A great collection of  Appalachian music on CDs.

More from room #2, and there's a #3 beyond that which has Christmas ornaments!

Sarah Vekasi organized the Art by the Tracks show, as she has for several years. The proceeds go to art programs in local schools.

Looking through the front door of the Depot...

My pottery is on the far wall by the window. Just look for that bright poppy bowl!

Into life, a little rain must fall...

I've planned, prepared, made new pottery, and started the packing for the show on Saturday.

But I've also watched the weather forecast as it gets closer to Saturday and it will include cold rain.  The forecast says 100% chance of rain.  There's an hourly forecast at Wnderground Weather which says 60% chance of rain in Black Mountain as of 10 am, rising to 70% by noon, and 100% by 2 pm.

So after careful consideration and discussion with my clay partner, Cathy Babula, we've decided to cancel our booth for this Art by the Tracks show.  We hope to come back in the spring for the next show sponsored by the Old Depot.

I am relieved because of my precarious breathing health, which might have been stressed too much by a cold rainy day and putting a wet tent away, loading cinder blocks onto Cathy's truck, loading my car with crates of pots and tables in the rain, etc.

So I hope that all of the blog followers will forgive us for not selling our new pottery at the show this Sat.  We are both very sorry that we can't take part in this delightful show.

Cathy will have her latest pottery at the Mud Buddies booth at the Tailgate Market on each Sat. morning until Thanksgiving

I will have a few of my new pieces at Holly Jolly, a Friday evening holiday celebration in Black Mountain on Dec. 1, inside on the third level of the Black Mountain Center for the Arts.

We next share a booth at an indoor pottery show...in Marion NC at the high school on Saturday, Dec. 2.  So perhaps you'll have a chance to visit that show!

In the meantime, I'll keep letting you see my latest works.

Another chip 'n dip bowl, with different shades of green to black! $45

What did and didn't sell!

I have been happy to share a 10x10 booth with my friend Cathy Babula.  Here is my half of the show...
my beginning display of clay art

the Hecate figure sold, but my triple glazed pieces didn't
Hecate photo before glazing shows more detail (and was better focus)

sold a dragonfly plate

Sold a bright 5 inch bowl

Sold a four inch tea bowl

traded for some things with other vendors!

And I packed most of it back up after 8 hours sitting in rain/drizzle and finally sunshine around 3 pm...but no crowds of customers this year!  Between a music festival down the road and yucky weather most of the day, it wasn't our best venture into clay sales out doors.  I went home tired and dejected, honestly.

But the sun came out the next day, and my spirits are back up.  I haven't unloaded the car yet, however, nor figured out where to store all those bins of pots till my next sale in October!

I am going to be making clay art for myself all summer,  since I've already got inventory in case anyone wants to purchase things either here, Facebook, or perhaps I'll rejuvenate the etsy shop again.

I am grateful to have made my booth fee, and a bit more. And thanks to all who looked at my work.
