Working on Hecate

I may build little figures, some animals, some angels, some goddesses.  I made a Hecate a few months ago, but didn't quite like the way the stain/glaze came out.  I kept staring at her, knowing something had to be done, because if I didn't like her, I'd eventually destroy her (as I did Athena and a couple of other attempts that failed badly.)

Yes those are cutouts in her skirt. She can have a small candle placed under her through a hole in the base.

I've used acrylics to paint the colors thinly over the tones of the stain, but have left the staff and the cup as it originally looked.

I haven't decided whether to do more painting...perhaps a stain on the cobblestones, or the grassy area on the base.

Now will wait till another glaze kiln can be loaded to see what happens to them.

Hecate at the crossroads (before the stain). Yes she's a crone, which is a wise elder woman.  Crone has a historic use that's derogatory. We wise elder women are reclaiming the term and using it proudly.  Please teach everyone you know that this is what we prefer.  It may take several generations...sort of like other derogatory terms.

There's also a wingless dragon (guess that makes her a lizard). And a funny looking baby bird.

What did and didn't sell!

I have been happy to share a 10x10 booth with my friend Cathy Babula.  Here is my half of the show...

And I packed most of it back up after 8 hours sitting in rain/drizzle and finally sunshine around 3 pm...but no crowds of customers this year!  Between a music festival down the road and yucky weather most of the day, it wasn't our best venture into clay sales out doors.  I went home tired and dejected, honestly.

But the sun came out the next day, and my spirits are back up.  I haven't unloaded the car yet, however, nor figured out where to store all those bins of pots till my next sale in October!

I am going to be making clay art for myself all summer,  since I've already got inventory in case anyone wants to purchase things either here, Facebook, or perhaps I'll rejuvenate the etsy shop again.

I am grateful to have made my booth fee, and a bit more. And thanks to all who looked at my work.
