Oct pots

Dahlias in a snowflake crystal glazed vase...what beauty!  The flowers of course.  I am glad that John Britt shared how to make the crystaline glazes in Ceramics Monthly a while back.  It was hard to get results at first.

The last of the fall pendants
The pendants on cords sell pretty well at the TailGate markets.  But I don't worry about the ones that don't sell.  They are easy enough to store.

Very small test pitchers.  The one on the right had the best pour spout when I tested it.  But all would pour very well, if you just didn't fill it right to the rim.

There would be dribbles however with slow starts and stops of pouring...so learning correct pouring skills is also important!

These are tried and true glaze combinations on speckled brownstone clay.

Tomorrow I'll have some tea bowls, which could be perhaps just drinking cups...all in white and blue.

The pendant project

Here are some pendants which I made, and friends, relatives and I have glazed in the last month.
I hope they are pleased with the results.

I seldom make anything for jewelry, but the idea of using wire that's able to take ceramic kiln temps was just too neat to pass up.  I learned that the clay did shrink its usual 12-14%, and the wire stayed the same size.  So tiny loops of wire came out looking much bigger when finished.

And I'll be returning the originals to those who painted the glazes when I see them again.  They will have to work out how to attach them to something to wear.  Sorry, I just don't have jewelry things around any more.

Some pendants

These are my test tiles...but I'll offer them to the jewelry makers of the world if they wish ceramic goodies to work with.

I do enjoy seeing how different glazes break over impressed designs.   But I'm not able to enjoy threading, beading, tying knots, bending wires etc.  I have my limits.  Ha!
