In eight weeks...

Yes, it's time to think about Christmas.  Do you know how many days it is from this Saturday? I'll be at Art by the Tracks, with many other craftsmen and artists...waiting to help you with your Christmas list.

Multicolored porcelain vase - 5" tall, 4-1/2" diameter.  $45

Some ornaments which are hand formed and hand painted...$10 each, 3 for $25 And it's early enough that you can make special orders...what color cat does your best friend have?  I can do that!

NOTE from Barb as of Thurs. Oct 26...
Cathy and I have decided not to do this show due to heavy cold rain forecast for the afternoon.  The show will still go on.  Contact me at blackmtnbarb@gmail if you're interested in purchasing anything before Dec 1.

Semi-feral cats in the hood

I thought the tan one is also male, because I know (Bootsie) the little black one is...and the management had him fixed (as well as his calico sis) last year after they grew bigger than kittens.  But that fat little tummy on the tan is now skinny suddenly, so in the last week that cat had herself some kittens.  Not here, but somewhere in the woods in the neighborhood.  She sure needs to be fixed.  We heard that she's actually the mother of the other 2 cats.

These little guys were just walking down the sidewalk, and this was my view out the window.  No wonder my own cat like to sit in that window and watch the world go by.

The management is also feeding the two kittens (now cats) and perhaps the tan one has joined the family.

One of our residents was feeding (illegally) the kittens and they'd follow her around with her walker every day.  They could hear it coming, and would just appear out of the bushes.  She was able to touch them, and sometimes the black will come to me and let me pet him, but Cali, the girl, is still pretty shy.

Since the pet deposit is pretty high in our apartments, it's amazing how many people have dogs.  And I dare say a few cats, but they all stay inside like mine.

Puzzling tail, er tale!

A friend spent much of Christmas time making jig saw puzzles.  Then she loaned me 3 of them.  It's February, but I chose one to work on, and got a friend over to help sometimes.

And kept the cat off of it, mostly. (See this post .)

It sure was a fun time, with coffee and cashews to take a break with occasionally.  And the amazing cat in the puzzle has to be 3 feet long, or those are fake books he's behind so that he doesn't have to swerve his body all the way behind their depth.  Of course I refused to believe the artist didn't consider that.  I did enjoy that this was a painting of these books etc, rather than a photograph.

And then after the last piece was successfully placed, to much applause, we began the disassemble task.

To the tune of "Life is a Highway," life became a puzzle.  And amateur philosopher that I am, I looked to see how it might work. The edge pieces are very important, and then finding pieces that match a hole, and finally and lastly, just looking at a particular piece and trying to find where it might go.  Then back and forth, piece, or hole, or piece.  Counting the number of pegs or "what do you call them, the little cave shapes?"

Panther protection

Time for Ms. Panther to prove she is the protector of the house!

My fellow blogger has written about her kittehs. Vicki Lane is a published author and teaches people how to write, so of course she can speak for her 2 kittehs. (HERE)

Panther had to show she's protecting the house...
I'll catch whatever is in that bag, Mom!

That bag is new, and it must have something very threatening inside it!

Pounce, then look under and inside...there must be something there!

I'll go hide for a minute, and then I can catch it for sure!
A new threat to the house...I'll play with my toy mouse later, thank you very much!
Note to reader, the ignored mouse is behind her under the table to left of pic.

Mugs with kittens

Here are 3 mugs, with variations of cats, and white and turquoise glazes.

The cats are bare clay, which is still safe for eating.

As always, I've put a Celtic Cross knob on the handles.
