My display in Marion
I sold the two large dragon/dinosaur sculptures, and a few medium size things, and a few small things. Made my expenses! But it was not a good sales day for me.
My display before the customers arrived. The last of my poppy painted bowls and plates will probably go into my kitchen. I love to use bright things for eating. Since my finger muscles keep me from painting that glaze detail any more, I'll not be making any more.
There are only a few people who come to this market in the afternoon to shop...most of the real connoisseurs of pottery want to get there early and get the best deals.

Snowflake glaze transition
An altered thrown bowl shaped vase, with pale frosty snowflake glaze at the base. For sale of course, at huge price of $20.
I did some tests (posted about HERE) from recipes that John Britt published in Ceramics Monthly years ago. This is one of the results.
I haven't been feeling that well, so most of my energy is going to getting better. I'll post more as soon as I'm back on my feet. If you're the kind of person who wants to know my condition, I'll just say I cracked a rib while coughing, and have one lung with pneumonia in it.
I still will read blogs, cause I can do that while doing my morning breathing treatments. As they say, getting old is not for the faint of heart. I now spend an hour a day with these breathing treatments, morning and night. I get up around 7, and before I know it, it's already 10 am, and that gives me very little morning to work with.
I know, do I want crackers with my whine? Only if they have something spread upon them.
And I just noticed something when looking at blogs on a phone...because I do post my link on facebook and get some hits through that. But phones make it hard to see the right hand column, and the tabs at the top of the page just say "home" and you have to click on it persistently to get to the sales tab. No wonder people aren't emailing me with their desires to make me rich...or whatever.

The Monarchs were hiding
A friend sent me a text Facebook message about wanting something with monarchs on it.
So I dug through some tubs of wrapped up pots. Why are my pots not on display somewhere? Time to get them unpacked and out there, I say!
Easier said than done!
It's easiest to take photos and post them on Facebook, which I did yesterday, just to let folks know that I'm still doing pottery, sort of.
It does take a bit of a push to move from my being creative to being an assertive woman who sells her works out there in the world. I know I learned all that stuff. But my nature is not to be that way.
So I stand in front of a mirror and tell myself that it isn't going to sell itself by sitting in that tub tucked away. And why did I make it? Wasn't it to be enjoyed by someone else? So I'm being terribly selfish as well as shy by holding onto it.
My email address is the best way to purchase these butterfly themed pieces...blackmtnbarb AT gmail DOT com. I'm doing a half price shipping deal all of July, where you only have to pay half of the shipping charge to wherever you are, from Black Mountain, NC.

Happy April Fools Day!
I've been fooled a time or two in my life.
And I've been party to fooling others also a few times!
AND, I've been foolish too. But I don't think of myself as a fool.
I take some risks in life, but am more of a timid safety freak most of the time. The most adventurous thing I've done in the last 6 months was to quit the Mud Buddies and selling at the Tailgate Market each Saturday during the summer. I definitely felt like I was jumping off a cliff into space, taking that leap that something would fill the space of my former small retail outlet. But three hours a week of availability wasn't that much in the first place.
So far I've been slowly growing into new venues to sell my pottery. Facebook has proven to be a good way to reach out and say, yes, I can make that for you. Or at least, yes, that's for sale.
So I hope you don't have many episodes of blushing foolishness today...but just remember that angels fly because they take themselves lightly!

While Gallery is again open! - Chapter 5
Chess pieces in clay (board created in wood by an artist not in clay studio)
There are a few pieces of pottery for sale on a table in the hallway outside the gallery, from the Holly Jolly sale.
