A favorite breakfast

First and foremost:

I woke up today feeling great.  Part is physical. Part is emotional/spiritual.  I am so grateful to have a warm clean home, food available, a fresh pot of coffee and granulated sugar to sweeten it with, a stove that heats with the turn of a knob, a car outside that allows me to move about my area, a few dollars to spend for my needs, safety that my home will be here all day and probably tomorrow, and of course, last but not least, an internet connection and computer that works to connect me with the world outside my four walls.

Simple fare...
sausage crumbled and browned (pour off excess drippings) in skillet on low-medium heat
add a half potato that was boiled already and cubed (with skins)
brown the potato cubes, and let some stick to the pan, because they will
move the potato/sausage mixture to side of skillet
scramble 2 eggs and pour into clear area and scramble around as they solidify
mix eggs into the rest of the mixture
sprinkle spices over everything (my choice is sea salt)
turn off heat of pan
and let it sit till the brownings that are on the pan will come up easily, and stir them into the whole mix and serve!

Sunny dish breakfast

This morning I used one of my plates with a tree and some designs, and a sun shining behind the tree.
Didn't exactly make my biscuits and sausage taste any better, but it did give me a smile.  So I'll share it with you.

Incidentally, I gave up on making biscuits from scratch and bought a bunch of frozen grands that are flakey, and they never fail!  Nor do I end up with bowls and shortening to clean up.

Tomorrow: Spirit house gets glaze applied and Muffin is interested.

My new blog starts TODAY January 1, 2013.  Living in Black Mountain  I won't be as chatty there as I am here.  Just the environment I love.  This will be the picture for linking to it.

And I'm concentrating on my ancestors, as well as journalling in kind of autobiography on When I Was 69.   There's already a link to that blog over there on the right.

So this blog will remain my home for chats, comments about creativity and ceramics.  And I'll be reading all my friend's blogs still.

Yesterday I walked happily around Lake Tomahawk.  It was 34 and sunny, and the wind wasn't much of a problem, because I figured out which way it was coming off the water, then walked so the wind would be at my back.  So I actually got quite hot with my puffy coat, wool hat, and 2 layers of cotton under all that.  Good, maybe there's a half pound of sweat I shed.

I ate a lovely breakfast, which put on at least a couple of pounds.  There was some left over cut fresh pineapple. And a coffee cake mix.  So I made pineapple upside down coffee cake.  Oh my, so delicious!  I also ate it for lunch, with a Clementine.  (Yes fellow Floridians, these Spanish oranges are the best available, and only at this time of year, which fits with the tradition of an orange in the toe of your Christmas stocking)
