Here are some pendants which I made, and friends, relatives and I have glazed in the last month.
I hope they are pleased with the results.
I seldom make anything for jewelry, but the idea of using wire that's able to take ceramic kiln temps was just too neat to pass up. I learned that the clay did shrink its usual 12-14%, and the wire stayed the same size. So tiny loops of wire came out looking much bigger when finished.
And I'll be returning the originals to those who painted the glazes when I see them again. They will have to work out how to attach them to something to wear. Sorry, I just don't have jewelry things around any more.
FYI...all these glazes are Mayco Stroke 'n Coat, cone 6. They are mostly glazed on both sides, hung from wire hooks over raised jewelry stands.
ReplyDeleteI like the first one the best looks like a the heart of a bird, what kinds of wires do you use for handing them from the jewelry stands? I have a bead tree but have yet to use it.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if my comment went through, I like the first one the best, looks like the heart of a bird. What kind of wire did you hand them with? I've used the Mayco all the way up to cone 10.
ReplyDeleteWhen I have "moderate comments" turned on, I have to approve any comments. Since I was out, didn't see these till just now. Glad to hear from you. I'll look at the label for the wire, K---something. It goes to cone 10 also. The pendants' holes weren't big enough for the posts for beads, so that's why I used a heavier version of the wire to hang them from the posts.
DeleteThese are quite lovely. My favorite is the 5th one (green with blue designs)!
ReplyDeleteThanks...a talented grandchild did that one. I'm very proud.
