A 10 foot by 10 foot pop-up tent can only do so much.
So we cut our tables to just 2 six-footers.
We still used table cloths, which got soaked. But no risers, no business cards, no special display stuff at all. This was the nitty gritty of a Tailgate Market.
Mud Buddies Rule!
The rain got better for a while, but it got colder out...in low 60s I'd guess. Then by 11:45 it was pouring rain.
There were 24 tents displaying, I think the manager, Joannie said.
Last week they didn't hold the market at all, thanks to Hurricane Joaquin. Joannie said this was the first time in (sorry, I don't remember how many years...) that they'd canceled.
And we had some sales too! I was glad to finish my order for a plate from Joanne, and then another woman gave us an order for a special decoration on a particular shape mug. She paid in advance.
Manager Joannie is making sure things are going as smoothly as possible. |
If I look bedraggled, it's because I sure am! |

It does make for a tough day. I hope the next one will be warm and dry.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you still had sales despite the rain. We were set up at an outdoor show too. I was surprised that people came out in the deluge. Like you, we simplified the booth and came home with soaking wet table covers.
