I'm being facetious of course. Usually we have a delightful morning each Saturday.
Selling with low overhead has been a blessing for my old age adventure with pottery. Speaking of old age...
I'm an optimist, so believe I'll never die. It's all in my mind, right?
And then there's the maxim which I live by, Dream Big!
Dream catcher |
If you're going to dream about things, why just go halfway? Why do a middling daydream when you can dream up a fantasy which others will envy?
So I bring a Tupperware tub of pottery to a Tailgate market each Saturday. The 2 of us who are hostesses (of the 5 MudBuddies) for that week wrestle the tent up, the 3 tables, the green table clothes, and empty each of the 5 tubs to display each other's pottery. Our display is simple, but each individual has unique tricks.
And as I sit there visiting with old friends and new, I'm aware of how we all are walking this green earth with our own dreams.
I imagine lots of things about the people buzzing by to get their fresh greens, peaches, chocolate, pots, jewelry and above everything else, gorgeous summer flowers. One day I imagined I could read their minds...and thought up things that Dickens might enjoy...or perhaps Hemingway. Another time I decided everyone could read each other's minds. (I never abuse this fantasy by saying, buy buy buy...well almost never.)
That's when it's slow. But lately there have been several people looking at our 5 potter's work almost continuously. I'm so grateful for that. And I enjoy working with the other 4 Mud Buddies. What a great group of creative people we are.
Today's Quote:
John Lennon, Imagine
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace
You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world
You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will live as one

ReplyDeleteWhen I learned how to make one, I was told how important the hole in the middle was...to catch the dream. Amazing how many images are on the internet of dreamcatchers without that center space.
DeleteGreat post, Barbara. Perfect for summer.
ReplyDeleteThanks neighbor...I see the market will have local corn again this weekend. It was so delicious last week!
DeleteTerrific post, Barb, and I love the words to the Lennon song.
ReplyDeleteYES, outdoor fairs are a challenge, but so fun!
