The open studio in 2013. It hasn't changed much since then! All students can work on their creations at this time, and I'm an Independent Student, so that's my only time in the clay studio. I have attended as such for 12 years until COVID, then I just returned in February of 2024.

Some of the wheels for throwing pottery
An excellent big slab roller in front of the wedging table against the wall.
Charles Freeland is the studio manager, and teaches classes, formulates glazes, sets up gallery exhibits, and monitors the open studio which I attend 3 times a week.
Today's quote:
The Greeks understood the mysterious power of the hidden side of things. They bequeathed to us one of the most beautiful words in our language—the word ‘enthusiasm’—en theos—a god within.
Also see the BMCA signage about the CLay Studio that I posted about HERE in Living in Black Mountain blog.
It is nice to see places like the Clay Studio are reopened after Covid. Take care, enjoy your day and have a great new week!
ReplyDeleteThey also continued limited classes during COVID. I am happy to wear a mask just to avoid dust and mold there.
Delete...I hope that your hands are doing well.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tom, for remembering that. My hands sometimes ache (probably arthritis) but the simple forms I am building don't require as much work directly from my hands. I may try working on the wheel sometime...maybe.
