Seeing the flowers - Part Two

Though most of these photos from the gallery exhibit were taken at the very beginning of the display on Thurs. June 13, they were on  display until Saturday June 15 at 4 pm. Of course the florists had been creating their work on Thursday morning.

What surprised me was that three florists came on Saturday afternoon to "refurbish" the displays...not just their own. They told me their friends had asked them to check on their displays also. One visitor kind of made gestures like "what do you think you're doing?" and they all laughed after it was explained.

The most fun I had as a gallery docent was kind of listening in as different flowers were discussed by some really knowledgeable visitors. I was given the names of some of the flowers I'd never seen before (but alas, promptly forgot them!)

You may notice a flower that is placed low and in the front. Our florist repair crew replaced it just after the photo of their discussions.

Downstairs in the lobby, some donated vases were displayed that were also part of the fund-raising event.

Though the floral show is over, next Friday June 21 is the opening of the plein air exhibits, where paintings from the 7 gardens of the tour will be displayed.
