|A deli lunch kept us going|
The owner has in mind an exhibit of 999 cups. My friend, Cathy, and I contributed 14 between us.
Will there really be that many cups in that size space? My limited knowledge of exhibits from a 2.5 foot square area each Sat. at the Tailgate Market says that this gallery will be pretty full if they get half that many cups.

They do not have much of an on-line presence. It says:
Located in historic downtown Spruce Pine, the Gallery, best known for its glass collection, showcases work of more than 150 artists and craftsmen in the Spruce Pine and Penland area. The gallery displays outstanding work in studio glass, pottery, wood, grandfather clocks, paintings, photography and stained glass.221 Locust Ave.

The owner Luther S. is an accomplished woodworker, with grandfather clocks as well as mantle clocks and other well made craftsman furnitures.
Since this gallery is located in whistling distance of Penland School of Crafts, which has a great studio of glass blowing, the glass pieces displayed are very nice. The pottery isn't the focus of the gallery.
It should be fun to go up there to see how they manage to display all those cups! Here are some of mine that are going to be there. (remember I give hints at the beauty of the insects, I don't claim they are realistic.)
The exhibit runs from June 5 through the 27th. I don't know if there is going to be an opening, but probably not. This feels more like a shop than a gallery, though the entrance lobby is quite impressive and is an excellent introduction to the gallery.
I will definitely go for another drive up there to see the display before it's all over, and of course take pics for sharing with you! (If you go by, they are open Tues-Sat, 10-5.)
