Lake dredging

A couple of days ago...
OK, sorry about finger smudge.  Just below it you can see the man who operated the machine (whatever it's called) which is dredging the lake bottom.  You'll notice a ring of stones which is the old water level edge.  Then between them and the island is a little water, which is dammed into that channel so it can flow from the golf course (off to the left about a mile) toward the real lake dam off to the right.  Below that channel is where a new lake bottom is being dredged.

As you see, I was passing along on the road above the action, so didn't have time to get more detailed photos.  There are tree size logs which the shovel machine moves so it has a footing rather than sinking into the mud (at least 3-4 feet is possible.)  There is a newly created roadway for the dump trucks to back down to carry the sludge away.  I wonder where they are taking it...

It rained quite a bit the days after these photos were taken, and now it's been dry all weekend, so I should go see how much progress was made last week.  Yep, I'll do that.
