When I started glazing, I forgot to bring along a photo of a Monarch, thus these are "resemblences" of Monarch butterflies, each hand painted by myself.
The clay on the bottoms is marbleized, which is how you see brown and white areas. It doesn't show through the glaze or inside, but the bottoms of the mugs are kind of interesting in themselves, as long as you've finished drinking your cuppa!
These have a matte bronze green glaze, but the butterflies have a shiney clear over the details which were painted with Stroke and Coat, with the fine lines done with Designer Liner, both by Mayco. After painting the clear over the design work, I covered it with wax before dunking the mug into the studio glaze.
I think your resemblances are really special Barbara. Love these!
ReplyDeleteTHanks Denise, I will try to copy actual butterfly photos next time, because i don't want to offend them, or those who love them.
DeleteBarbara -- you truly are an artist with clay. Beautiful mugs, especially the butterflies. Nice! --- barbara
