Spring flowers and Spirit Houses

First blossoms on the cherry tree in my yard

Southwest style spirit house...
Yes a working door

And keyed removable roof
There's one more spirit house, which I'll show you next time.  Here's another photo of spring blossoms in my yard.

  1. each house is so unique, curious how did you get the door to open and close on the southwestern one ?

    1. Clay hinges (which are hard to attach to door as well as house) then with a piece of Kanthal wire through each one before firing. This wire comes in different guages, I use the smallest for these...bent at the ends to keep in the hinges. It is designed to go to cone 6.

  2. I like how the second spirit house looks southwestern.
Every day, spring surprise us with something new!

    1. It is certainly fun compared to the months of dreariness, isn't it?
