Art tells the truth about mid-life bodies

More models are not shown, but have their feet on the side of this painting.

As published by FaceBook as follows:

'Myths, tales, and historical records featuring positive depictions of powerful middle-aged female figures are few and far between. There is no herstory relating a sisterhood of midlife goddesses, no codified body of literature to which we can turn for affirmative examples of a profound and potent midlife. Real life role models are sparse, as well, although there certainly have always been, in every era and society, remarkable exceptions—powerful middle-aged women who were rulers, adventurers, artists, entrepreneurs, scientists, spiritual leaders—mature, glamorous, and courageous sheroes of all stripes.'' -Donna Henes, The Queen of My Self: Stepping into Sovereignty in Midlife

  1. It is interesting how they are holding each other. There are definitely no anorexic models in this painting.
    Take care, enjoy your day!

  2. Society is definitely obsessed with youth. I often struggle with accepting my aging body... and when did my neck get this wrinkly?!
