Dabbling in the water!

Whichever way I looked last week, there were ducks and geese getting their lunches, just before I went for mine at the Lakeview Senior Center.

I will try to parse these photos out so you don't get too bored with them.  I greatly enjoyed my 20 minute walk, stopping to capture a photo and catch my breath.  A few days later, no ducks or geese, and I had to keep on truckin' all the way around the 0.55 mile path at Lake Tomahawk.

I'll share this with the Sepia Saturday gang, because after all, there are birds eating, whether pigeons or waterfowl!

  1. Love the pictures of the pond and the ducks. We have a pond in our subdivision area almost the exact same size as the one in your pictures with ducks and geese swimming about and looking for 'handouts'. There is also one of similar size in the middle of our local college campus dotted with aquatic birds. Both have lovely paths around them which I have trod on occasion - of about the same mileage. :)

  2. Ducks can be beautiful and ekegant, as in your photos. I'm not so sure about pigeons, although I do like the spotted turtle doves that frequent our little garden. They are a kind of pigeon.

  3. Surely everybody loves ducks, and aren’t they always eating ‘lunch’? These are lovely photos. I think I would have enjoyed that walk too.

  4. The last time I saw Canada Geese was at Detroit's Belle Isle. All they wanted was our picnic and what a noise they made. Great pictures.

  5. Male mallards are lucky to get such a lovely shade of green! As for Canada Geese, I used to think they were so cute and charming, but they have become a real nuisance where I live. The flocks are huge. They are everywhere. Businesses that rely on foot traffic have a real challenge keeping sidewalks clear, and I don't mean clear of the birds themselves.

  6. What a very pleasant walk indeed. I always love water views and ducks just make for more interest. It's still stinking hot here so walks have to be taken very early in the morning or not at all.

  7. No lake or pond is complete without a goose/duck or two. But when they multiply into gangs they are less charming and more a nuisance. I was in downtown Charlotte not long ago and a large flock of Canada geese had occupied one small park to the exclusion of people, and thought nothing of stopping traffic to saunter down a busy street.
