Airing out the lake

A man is sitting by the lake, with piles of boxes next to him.
There are also a couple of strange looking machines, each about the size of the boxes, maybe 12 inches x 12 inches x 10 inches, colored black and purple, with round 2 plastic things on top of each one.
Don't believe me...well, here's a picture.

Me being a normally curious woman, I asked him what those were.
"They are aerators, which are to be installed in the lake," he said.
Me still looking curious, eyebrows raised, he continued. "We're installing them to aerate the water for the fish and plants."
I gave up.  This was all I would learn from him.
But as I walked along, the next several people asked me what he said, and I repeated it.  Why didn't they ask him themselves?  Who knows.

Then a woman asked if they were going to drain the lake for 3 months like "they said they would."  Her complaint was that she was just started walking to help her knee, and the last time she started walking to help her hip recover, they drained the lake.  I had not been reading the local news, so this was the first I'd heard of the draining.  Now why would they aerate it if they're going to drain it?

Notice two men in a little boat with a motor going across the lake toward the man with the hose and aerators, and shovels.  I dare say something happened after I left.  I'll have to go walk around the lake again as soon as there's another pretty day, and I have time.

Quote for today:

“Now and again, it is necessary to seclude yourself among deep mountains and hidden valleys to restore your link to the source of life. Breathe out and let yourself soar to the ends of the universe; breathe in and bring the cosmos back inside…”

  1. That must have been a great walk Barbara. I have enjoyed stopping by again. Your photos are great. Interesting about those aerators.

  2. You made me curious too... I google the lake and I found an article about draining and dredging it: http://www.blackmountainnews.com/story/news/local/2015/09/23/improvements-coming-lake-tomahawk/72685274/
It doesn't mention the aerator installation. It does seem odd to install aerators now, only to drain the lake in a month.
