Easter a few years ago

1945 Easter, Dallas TX.
Stills from home movies.
I vaguely remember the coat and hat as being pink wool.  With red cherries of course.

The little wood wagon on the porch behind me held wood alphabet blocks.  About 22 years later a similar wagon with wood alphabet blocks was owned by my first son.  Sometimes a good idea needs to continue!

My contribution this week to Sepia Saturday...where ladies are wearing bonnets and riding bicycles.

But wait, I had a post last month about my early adventures with wheels  HERE!

QUOTE FOR TODAY:

A problem is a chance for you to do your best.

  1. Sweet photos from the old home movies, and I really like the quote too.

  3. The 'still' with the look of surprise is cute, but I like the next one in which you seem to be saying "Really?" In the last one you appear to be looking for another surprise - "I'd better take a good look - there might be another one of those things in here . . . " The shot of you on your tricycle in the other post is a good tie-in! :)

  6. I'm another alphabet block fan! Also like your hat very much -- wool or felt?

  7. That is so cute. We never had home movies, but it is a great way to get the whole range of expressions on a little ones face.

  8. And I'll bet you also had a pair of little patent leather Mary-Janes to go with the outfit. Sweet memories.

  9. My sister and I had little blue Easter hats one year, with red cherries on one side. I'd forgotten about those.

  10. That’s a clever idea to use the movie stills. It gives us an animated story of your Easter Surprise.

  11. It's not often one gets to see home movies from such an early date, so thanks for sharing these stills.

  13. Very sweet, and I bet you enjoyed the contents of the basket too, assuming there were eggs in there.
