Welcome to the Adaptable combo

I have just published (at least for now) the last of my other two blogs "When I Was 69" (my personal archives) and "Living in Black Mountain, NC, a daily photograph of the beauty of Western North Carolina."  It wasn't that I didn't enjoy writing them, but I need more time for other things these days.

I hope if you've been reading (or following) either of those blogs, you won't mind stopping over here, where I also will sometimes be talking about my pottery.  It's not really a business...more of an avocation, I think they say.

So welcome to any newcomers here.  Remember to leave comments if you wish.

Today is Thursday, so that means I can write something to do with the things I used to write at "When I was 69"

My personal life has identified that as a senior, or an elder, I choose to use the word Adaptable to best represent the best of my life today.  No matter what my body may or may not do, I'm adapting to the changes that come about.  I do not want to have any ageist comments about "not looking my age" (which infers that my age isn't the best I would want to be, and probably is trying to say I look younger.)  I sure don't want to be the "athletic type elder," who is considered optimal because they are "active elders."  Argh.  I can do what I can do, and playing tennis wasn't something I did when I was younger, nor have any interest in at this age.

I'm really glad I am who I am, just the way I am.  Most of the time anyway.  Other times I'll either shut up or whine.

  1. Oh, I do like the term adatable!
I always remember what I think Gloria Steinem said when she turned forty. There were the usual, "You don't look forty" comments to which she replied , "No, this is what forty looks like!"

  2. I think I elder used as the Native Americans would use the term, in reverence, as in the elders, those who are wise.

    1. Thanks, Linda...if only our society wasn't geared so much to respecting old white men...oooh, I'm bad.

  3. I am following you over here, not sure are you still going to post at Sepia Saturday? I first met you and began following you from Alan's SS. I enjoy SS although life does cut into blogging time. I'm the type of blogger that posts when I can, with favorites that I keep up with weekly, like Thematic Photographic that a few SS bloggers do too. I stop by and visit all the folks I follow, not just if they post at SS but if I follow I'm interested in whatever is posted. So now I'll see if there's a place to hop on this blog for your future posts.

  4. Thanks for coming on over here, Karen. Yep, I'll have SS as often as I can come up with anything worth posting and sharing over there. I don't know how to delete my "69" blog from their list, but I guess if nothing is posted from it for a while, it will gradulally disappear. See you Sat!

  5. I thought I was already following this but maybe not. I will bookmark you for now as your followers section won't open for me.

    1. L. D. I neglected to hit enter today, so the "following tab" didn't work. My bad. Please sign up if you haven't yet. Love to know you'll find out whenever I get it together to say something, hopefully daily but with diverse categories all here in my clay place. Sorry.

  6. I like the idea of the combined blogs -- as you know, my own blog is all over the place.
