Lady bug, lady bug...

I have no idea what the rest of that rhyme is...do you?

But I was inspired by something to paint a couple of lady bugs on slabs of clay the other day...and on the side of a bowl.  The slabs were fired, and one went to a vendor at the Tailgate Market early Saturday morning.  She needed a birthday gift, and the Mud Buddies are always happy to help her with her gift giving  needs.

These are meant as wall hangings, as many of my recent pieces have been.

I'm still waiting for the market to discover wall hangings...especially these with little pockets for something personal to be added.

  1. Here's the first entry in Wikipedia:

    Ladybird, ladybird fly away home,
Your house is on fire and your children are gone,
    All except one,
    And her name is Ann,
And she hid under the baking pan.

It refers to using smoke to rid a garden of insects, and only a few might survive. Of course everyone knows lady bugs eat aphids, so you really wouldn't want to get rid of them. This version was printed in 1744.
PS, if anyone knows how I can get my blog back to normal width, I'd appreciate a bit of help. I've got it set on "default" width, and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Maybe the type size? that's what I'll look at now.

  2. I like the free form shape of the ladybug forms.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Linda...I do like getting looser in forms, since I'm tightening up in designs.
