Leaf imprinted mugs

I admit I these are my first attempt to press leaves into wet clay right after the mug is thrown.  Then wait till leather hard and carve the name in.  And of course at that point I add the handles.  Next comes bisque firing...then put some detail on the leaves and words with Red Iron Oxide (RIO we call it) then some wax over that, then dip each mug into glaze, then fire it to cone 5.  I will keep trying.  And I think I'll skip Chrysanthemums...just too hard to write!

But they are for sale (pretty low prices) tomorrow at the TailGate market here in Black Mountain.  Unfortunately I won't be there in person tomorrow...got a retreat to go to.

Hope you have a happy Labor Day Weekend (if you're in the US).  I understand it's Father's Day in Austrailia (or was it New Zealand?)

  1. I LOVE these, Barb! Make more and give me all of them, hahahaha! Seriously, I do think others will want to buy them up faster than you can make them. So, make people happy!

    1. Just let me know how many you want and ...are you my West Coast friend Rosemary, or another new Rosemary in my blog-land? Thanks for your kind words!

  2. I'm your West Coast fiend, er friend! Your BEST friend, haha! Seriously they're beautiful. I'll e-mail you about how many I want, and I insist on paying for them! I'd like to see the different designs because I'll want more than two.

    1. Hi old friend...hope you're set up to get replies to your comments, sounds like you are. These are $12 each. I haven't taken pics of each individually yet...can do it this Sat. at the Tailgate, cause they're packed away at a friend's storage area until then. Thanks for your interest!

    2. And I meant you are a dear friend of long time, not an old person. We know how young you are!
