January weekend, the 12th and 13th, in Black Mountain, brought picnic weather. Funny, because I wished for it kind of, over on my
other blog, by posting pictures of a picnic a few years ago. Too bad we couldn't get to that picnic ground, because I'm pretty sure the Blue Ridge Parkway is still closed up there...road repairs I think.
So here's what it was warm enough for...
in my neck of the woods. Actually, not even out in the woods.

| An open window with a cats-eye view of the neighborhood. |
There's my view over the rooftops of the Seven Sister's Mountains. Panther/Painter was the first to be placed in the window still. She wasn't quite brave enough to jump up by herself, even with a chair underneath, but part of that is because she used to have a platform to sit on, and now there are all these grooves in the windowsill which are not at all comfortable for cat bottoms. Towel only helped a little.
Both cats were sniffing like crazy, then I started sneezing. Dust still on the screens, though I'd dusted the sills before putting the towels down.

| Muffin balanced on head of bed, rather than stepping into open windowsill where I'd placed her. |
 |
| Not to stay there very long, Muffin on the way down |
 |
| Guess where Muffin decided to go, having given up her very own perch! |
We all know the other cat has the best spot.
 |
| "Age before beauty...where did Panther go?" These ladies don't share easily. |
 |
| "I'm just sitting here resting my eyes, but actually She can't get past me without my noticing!" |
 |
| The natural balance of things. |
 |
| Sneak peak for tomorrow, to see the grand opening of the amaryllis! |
My cats have been sniffing the air too and loving it. It's been in the 80s here and there is pollen everywhere, I've even been sneezing. Strange weather indeed.
