The Forest Project

Here are some sculptural pieces before being bisque fired...I call it the Forest Project.

The largest ring of trees and the smallest are sitting side by side here.

The medium sized ring sits atop the kiln.

Looking down into the middle sized ring of trees.

Looking into the largest and smallest rings.  They will be glazed separately and assembled together after that.  Hope all these slabs make it in reasonable shape.

An earlier work, the Sacred Grove, was done with speckled brownstone clay... and had a lid.

I was intrigued with the idea of looking through the trees to the interior.

Here are the three forest project rings following bisque firing.  So far so good!

  1. If I answer your comment, do you get the reply in your email, or is it lost here in an old blog comment? A friend who doesn't blog sends her comments as anonymous, which means her address isn't listed, and so she never knows when I reply to it. Seems like a design flaw to me. And while I'm complaining, the "post a comment" box here has type that is 7 pt...and rather hard for me to read. Does anyone know how to change that?

  2. Oh, I didn't know it's because I post as anonymous that I don't get notice in my e-mail. I never even thought about that. Thought they just did it that way! The only reason I did that was because I had trouble posting as anything else on the "Select profile." I'll try again and see what happens. By the way, your circle of trees is beautiful and unique! I love the way you've inscribed leaves, grass, etc. too. Gives it even more dimension. At the bottom it's like the forest floor. Wonderful work!
